Rebecca is a mathematician-turned-data-scientist who learned to code in open-source communities. She started out in a journalism lab organizing administrative documents using a mix of fancy and not-so-fancy machine learning techniques. She has worked with DataKind and the City of Chicago’s Department of Innovation and Technology. She currently collaborates on City Bureau’s public meetings aggregator, and is excited by the many opportunities for data scientists to make skills-based contributions to their communities.
